I was so pleased to have created a beautiful and tasty blueberry surprise smoothie as I’m on my journey to optimal health! This was created as I’ve been attempting to partake in the power food, Maca, on a daily basis. Maca is an energy food originally found in the Andes Mountains of Peru but are now available in health food and natural stores in a powder form.
Maca is believed to optimize hormonal balance in women and aid in sperm health in men. I purchased this Power Maca packet and then blended it into this blueberry sweetness to create a wonderful daily smoothie (more recipes to come soon).
What’s the surprise? There are surprise power foods in this tasty treat, such as chia seeds and Maca (which makes it a fertility smoothie). Not only is it good for you, but you can add as much honey as your little heart desires to make it sweeter!
It was so good (to me) that I had to write down the recipe, especially considering my lack to write down many recipes that I have created and use over the years. Thank you for being an instrumental part of helping me be resourceful with my experiences (trial and error) in the kitchen. Now I will have no excuse not to document my recipes.
This recipe takes less than 10 minutes and is a quick addition to your daily breakfast, you can also add protein to it to gain more body fat for those in need of gaining weight or trying to build muscle.
- 2 cups coconut milk
- 3 tbsp honey (or 2 tbsp, not as sweet)
- 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
- 1/2 cup frozen strawberries (or 1 handful)
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 1/2 tsp Maca extreme (or one day's serving)
- Blend all ingredients and place in a glass jar or cup to complete within a day. Remember, the Maca makes it a fertility smoothie. This can also be done without Maca as a basic smoothie.
