The Tartan Dress
These winter months in the Atlanta, GA region of the nation, we have experienced one gentle snow fall. We have not been favored with the beautiful snow flurries embedding upon the elevated landscapes of scopes such as Colorado, but we can, at the least, dress the part.
Hence the beauty of Tartan. The formal. The elegant. The posh. The traditional.
This structured and stenciled design never loses it’s appeal or style, becoming graceful upon it’s use in varying materials or cuts.
It can be worn elegantly as a long dress adorned with lace, echoing years past of horse and carriages, courtships and well clad chaps.
Or it can reflect one’s childhood years of grade and boarding school, choosing to embrace the sharply cornered neckline with hints of red lipstick, curls collapsing down one’s bosom.
Perhaps you desire a more fierce and daring, yet stylish look, during these cozy winter days?
Or a rustic, country dress paired with jewels of turquoise, silver splendor and touches of leather accents.
The femininity of a thoughtfully tied bow is all that is needed to gather romance into an otherwise wholly humdrum day. What could be more amorous than a hint of the Victorian era, such as these carefully laced patent leather pumps?
And that is how we wear Tartan in a dress.
Do you care to shift into an entirely different look with the skirt?
The Tartan Skirt
How about for a touch of rustic glamour? Adding fashionable accessories such as sunglasses, a sweet purse and leather boots elegantly completes this look.
And even the musically inclined can serenade us into chic yet simple beauty as we stroll through life’s plentiful paths and valleys.
The moodiness of this navy blue and hunter green blend is made more inviting with the choice of soft materials and a ladylike skirt cut.
The Tartan Jacket
Then there’s the Tartan Jacket, for a little attitude and 1920’s traveling flare. Let’s not forget our ladylike gloves!
Or we can travel, run errands, sit in a charming position with our posing pet as we gaze into the distance.. in a gold buttoned business-like jacket, toned down, with an equestrian scarf and scarlet designer purse.
What lady says no to fur (or faux fur if you desire) with a subtle tartan, touch of bohemian and cowgirl appeal?
When paired with a Russian fur hat and leather embellishments, a creative edge is provided, while maintaining a classy demure.
There’s a small amount of rock girl in each one of us, ready to take the world by storm; additional proof that tartan can fit any personality!
The Tartan Bag
The functionality of a tote becomes fashion-forward as we embrace the richness of tartan-life.
As we travel with cute bulldogs modeling effortlessly and right on cue, tartan has never been so distinguished as in this moment.
The well-journeyed woman can distinguish herself with plaid and brown leathered traveling bags.
And for a run around the corner, through town, or back home…this everyday purse is sizable enough to house all your necessities.
The Tartan Shoe
On rainy days, these distinctive boots will aid you in splittering and splattering across the tear drops of heaven. Adding color to any dreary hour.
Or you can pretend you are a ballerina, in classic attire as you sport these delicate slippers.
For the more upscale, yet relaxed occasion, pair gold rose heels with an alined midi skirt, adding refined poise.
The Tartan Décor
Become the focus on a subtle plaid, wide-fanned chair, dotted with gold stubs and leather backing.
Adorn your ceiling with time-honored, rich hues of mini lamp chandeliers.
Add warmth to a room, filling wicker baskets with cozy throws of varying pigmentations.
Blend rich hues of purple, red, black and white with plaid pillows and comforters on your winter bedspread.
Or add slight bordering of red, gold and black checkered designs to your formal dinnerware.
The Tartan Child
Children Love It Too! Playfully dress your beloved little ones in today’s favored patterns.
Watching their faces full of a child-like joy, calling us back to our own years past…
As they model their own special variety of jean tartan glee.
Wear it to school…
When Vintage Little Red Riding Hood tales are being told…
And sweet faces stand in meditation.
Thinking of their favorite season of the calendar.
Then you can soak in the memories of becoming a tartan child once again.
You see, Wearing Tartan is Entertaining & Fun! I hope you enjoyed being amused by all the personalities of such a standard pattern can express. This week, let’s dress in a way that voices a bit of who we are. Shall we?
What do you love about tartan? Would you wear it or decorate with it in your home?
